Router Table Ext. (4/5), Dec 26, 2011

Purchased in Sept. 2011, This is a solid router table extension. It works very well. Installation proved to be difficult,however. One star subtracted due to install hassle. I have to think that the cast iron option would be easier to install and therefore worth the extra money.

I bought this several years ago, maybe they have done some improvements? The fence is my biggest complaint. It wasn't square and I sent it back and the replacement wasn't much better. The space between the inner and outer "T" slots is VERY fragile. The fence is presswood and has no strength. Mine split after a bit of time.
The edge of the table is pressed on veneer. Mine is all coming off.

Other than that the rest is holding up, lol.

I "moved up" to this saw extension router table after using a smaller lighter weight router table for years ... what a difference. This is a heavy, well made table with a nice, tall fence. The plate fits well and has leveling screws to fine tune the fit.

The table arrived very well packed. The free shipping option is fantastic! I ordered on Monday morning and the package arrived the next day. I'm within Pennsylvania, but it shows the level of customer service to get the package on its way so quickly.

Great table, but plate a little off (4/5), May 6, 2011

The table is fantastic. It attached to my old Craftsman, hand-me-down saw without any problems. I had to drill a new hole in the fence rail, but it was easy.

The aluminum insert plate was a different story. I had to send the first one back, because it was not flat. There is not much point is buying a metal router table set up if it is not going to be flat! I contacted customer service, and they sent me a replacement promptly. The replacement was flat. However, neither of the plates they sent actually fit into the opening in the router table. I had to grind them down a little to get them in. It was relatively close. I could have probably banged them into the opening with a hammer, but that would kind of defeat the purpose. I used a belt sander to grind the plate down a little, and it was no big deal. However, if I had not had the belt sander, which was a relatively recent purchase for me, it could have been a BIG hassel.

These problems with the plate are why I give this only 4 stars. I would highly recommend this to a friend, of course, I would let them borrow my sander ;)

I purchased the cast iron router table extension a couple of months ago and have been very happy with it. I mounted it to a left tilt cabinet saw with the motor on the left side of the saw so the router extension had to go on the right side, which it did with no problem. The table is as flat as can be with no light visible with a straight edge across it. The original aluminum router table insert was warped and MLCS sent me a new one within a week of letting them know of the problem. The aluminum router channel has been somewhat tight but a little sanding I think will make it right. I also used a piece of aluminum to make a base for my existing Freud shaper style micro adjustable fence and it went on with no problem. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to add a router table extension to their table saw. I've been happy with all the many MLCS products I've purchased so far.

After purchasing (and building) several router tables I dove in and bought the MLCS Cast Iron fence extension for my Rigid Contractor Table saw. The fence fit so perfectly it was like it was made for my saw. I did have to purchase (4) 5/16 x 1 1/4 bolts (just like the instructions said for Rigid saws). I had to tap the aluminum insert in with a rubber mallet for the first install, the fit was so near perfect that there was no difference on all 4 sides. I can not give the fit, finish and value too much praise.

I love this item. Very sturdy and solid. My router is so quiet with this top that I had to check to make sure it was operating correctly. Fitted with no problem. I would have given it 5 stars except that it was missing the router hood guard, which I hope to have sent to me. Great price, fast shipping and great product.

Sometime back I purchased your cast-iron extension table, item #9588, with the aluminum insert. Having used the extension and fence for a while now, I thought I would provide some feedback. My shop is small so having the router mounted on my saw cleared up space on my bench and relieved me of an inferior router table. After adding clamping at the corners and leveling set screws at the centers of the edges of the insert I have found the physical and mental comfort level provided by the extension table to have been worth every penny. The stability of the table and mount has eliminated all of the worry about sagging and vibration. The accompanying fence (with dust collection bracket), in conjuction with the table saw's fence, allow me to do many things, with ease, that were impossible with my old table. Now I can concentrate on having fun with my router and any defects are my fault, not my equipment. A truly great value!

I added it to my Craftmans table saw, and it works great. With the help of a friend, it went together with little trouble. The hight is just right, and with limited space in my garage it is a great idea.
